F that, Bring on the conference Champions + 4 at large
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

Texas loses out based on the tie break rules that the Big 12 agreed not. It is what it is. But the BCS wasnt developed to be a divisional tie breaker. It is more reason for a playoff, though.

You can't play a tourney and exclude conference winners like Utah, Boise and Ball State who have perfect seasons. I prefer a 16 team tourney that would allow all conference champs to participate. Might have to make a rule that to qualify, a conference must have at least 10 members - that would ensure no more than the current 11 conferences and allows room for more schools to "move up" top play with the big boys.

Exactly! 16 teams, including ALL conf champs and then limited at large spots. This would ENCOURAGE big programs to play big-time non conf games to try and prove they deserve an at large in case they dont win their conferences

imho, its either one or the other: bowl games or a playoff format for the teams that make it. bowl games generate money but a playoff format still can but i dont think players should be allowed gifts like they get when they go to bowls
