Interesting Scenario

Looking at the BCS Standings after hearing ESPN mention this possibility, is it possible that we see a Texas/Oklahoma Champioship game?

OU & UT rank 1 and 2 in the computers, 4 & 3 in the Harris, and 2 & 3 in the coaches poll. Florida & Alabama rank 2 & 1 in the Harris, 4 & 1 in the Coaches, but 6 & 3 in the Computers.

If Florida wins, I would guess that both polls go Oklahoma, Florida, Texas - but it would likely be very close. How much credit will the computers give Florida for beating their #3? Texas' win against their #1 would likely cement #2 in the computers.

With no "Conference Champion" data point being considered, I believe the computers would leave Florida behind an undefeated Utah (currently ranked 4th), making it possible that Texas could squeak them out, even if unlikely.

In the end, I believe you will see a Big 12 South vs. SEC BCS Championship on Jan 8th, but this could happen in the wild and crazy world we call the Bowl Championship Series.

did you smoke crack with amy winehouse or something?

there is no way there would be a UT-OU NC game.

whoever wins the SEC is locked in.

the real question is, if OU loses, does UT make the game or does a Alabama team make it if they lose to UF by under 7 pts?

And the Trojans are lurking on the outside saying "We have the Best Defense in the nation and are Pac-10 Conference Champions" so as they say...

FORGET ABOUT IT!

You're right about the SEC title game. If Florida wins, they leap frog an idle Texas because they just beat #1 in the nation. The only way Texas gets in is if OU loses to Mizzou, and even that may be a stretch.

Based on talent and the games I've seen, the matchup that I think really would feature the two best teams in the country would be Florida against USC, and it would be a fantastic game to watch. Unfortunately, I can't imagine OU losing to Mizzou, so unfortunately we're going to have a Big 12 team in there.

If USC was one of the best teams in the nation, they would not have lost to an unranked Oregon State. I am not a fan of UT or OU, but either one of those teams deserves to be in the championship game more than USC.

The Big 12 South was likely one of the toughest divisions in all of College Football this year, with UT, OU, Tech, and OSU being ranked in the top 10 for the better part of the year. Texas lost an away game to a Tech team on the last play of the game, on a pass to one of the best receivers in the game today. OU lost to a Texas team that was in the top 5 all year long.

As many sports analysts have said this past weekend, this type of attention and discussion on the BCS may be one of the main reasons why they will never change it.

If Florida was one of the best teams in the nation, they would not have lost to an unranked Ole Miss.... Nonsense.

And to the first response, no JTS. I looked at the numbers more closely only after this was discussed by a number of "experts." As I stated, I do not believe that a win over Alabama will not propel UF past Texas in the computer portion of the BCS rankings based on their current positions. However, I would expect the human polls to correct this and set up a Florida v OU final matchup.

when you really break down the BCS, the problem lies within the coaches poll.

the coaches IMHO got it wrong and the Harris + BCS computers got it right

OU and Texas would be 1 and 2 respectively in the BCS if it wasnt for those damn coaches.

would be a great championship game IMO

no way the NC game is a re-match of 'bama/florida or OU/UT. no way. it's going to be 'bama/florida vs. OU/UT, depending on how Saturday plays out.

of course it wont be a rematch but if the coaches poll wasnt included in the bcs then it would be
