In this report, it states Washington has spoken twice with TCU coach Gary Patterson.
With Tennessee and Clemson gone, this is really the last of the premier jobs available. I don't think Notre Dame will make a change because if the AD and Charlie Weis aren't meeting until next Monday, the school would hang itself in recruiting. Just my opinion.
As for Patterson and Washington, iit's the sleeping giant in the PAC 10 because of what Don James did. If it gets the right direction, then the Huskies will be tough to beat.
If you're Patterson, you look at that job.

Washington has not been looking at Patterson. My prediction is that Jim Mora will be announced the next head coach soon - probably Monday after the Cal game.

So you're saying the reporter who wrote this story is wrong? I forgot about the Jim Mora angle because he was being connected to it when he was coaching Atlanta and Washington went with Willingham.

Problem is that Jim Mora is the "head coach in waiting" in Seattle when Holmgren hangs it up this year.

As painful as it may be, it's time to accept the inevitable...
Patterson isn't going anywhere.

Yea because those rivals reporters are so incredibly accurate in their reporting? See K State. Not saying it isn't true but I do think it's reasonable to questions these "media outlets".

It would be my guess that UW did contact Patterson. With the current pressure to interview a diverse selection of possible coaches, he would satisfy the fat, high waist, and wedgie categories. Does not mean they are interested.

Don't forget "proven winner".

Well, that was a good line by mrydel so I had to go on the defensive....

I think this is a little different because Tom Dienhart is a national reporter who has been covering college football for many years. He used to write for The Sporting News.
He's pretty well connected nationally like Pat Forde and Ivan Maisel.
As for the K-State thing, sometimes on those local sites you have inexperienced cheerleading types of reporters who have a poor collection of sources who wind up not being in the loop. I would suspect that's what happened with Patterson.
Like I said before, unless Texas, USC or Florida come calling, Patterson isn't leaving because he has it too good over there.
But there's nothing wrong with him looking at Washington. I think he would do himself a disservice if he didn't. Looking at it and actually taking it are two different things.
However, as the story states, Fresno's Pat Hill appears to have the inside track.

Maybe a good time for Pat Hill to move on. Fresno has digressed the last couple years - at least relative to the standard they had established.

I admire his defensive coaching skills very much. And someone over there knows how to recruit.

Were you defending Patterson or the fat, high-waisted and wedgied in general? If the latter, we thank you.

Washington fans really want to get back to the Don James days in a hurry. Biggest problem for anyone taking the job is the recruiting angle. Washington, Oregon, Idaho are not states that provide many Div I calibur players. Who ever takes the job needs to have excellent S. California and Texas recruiting connections and then hope all official visits do not occur on one of the 278 days a year of overcast and rain. Patterson has some of those connections.
