I still can't believe what I read this moring in the DMN front page story in which the NCAA has actually allowed one of its computer rankings to give added weight to victories in November as opposed to October and September. What a pile of dog dudoo. So UT played its most important games based upon the schedule given to it by the Big 12 and somehow those victories are less important than victories over the same teams in November

Do you guys also realize the significance of this computer programmed weight given to late season games? (One TwoThree)

All non-BCS victories over BCS schools occur in the non-conference schedule generrally in September-so this computer is admitedly prejudiced to discount wins by non-BCS schools against BCS schools This ain't going to stand-it is total BS-a win is a win.

I can agree with the head to head all day long but it seems that in making the arguement for UT everyone is leaving out Texas Tech. They have 1 loss to a highly ranked team and they beat Texas. When that is mentioned, then the come back is that TT had a weaker schedule. But that is also the basis for moving OU ahead of Texas. So it can not be both ways.

I offer my statement again with the disclaimer that I have no dog in the hunt and yes, I do, in my mind place UT and OU a step ahead of TT but that is not what happened head to head.

The problem with arguing for Texas Tech is that they were never in the game with OU.

So what. Margin of victory is not supposed to matter. That should apply to a 1 point game as well as a 50 point margin. As a coach I could say my QB had the flu or my top DB's uncle was in a car wreck and distracted him. The decision should be made on win or lose.

Agree with Stallion. The Cartel is weighting its computer model to favor those that the Cartel favors. Big surprise there. Of course the computer model has been the Ace up the sleeves for the Cartel all along. By claiming a non biased computer is dreaming up the dream game, the Cartel convinced a large number in the public that the Cartel's methodology was fair and sound. Buuutttttt, as we all know, computers only do what they are programmed to do. So by inserting a bias program, the Cartel can hide its bias.

The Big 12 just needs a better tiebreaker. That's all.

The funniest part of all this to me is that the rest of the country decided who the Big 12 champion will be, not the Big 12.

if you look at what Texas and OU have done since that game it is pretty obivous who the better team is..but you also can not ignore head to head on a neutral field...I really don`t care as Florida or Alabama will win it all,if you call me a [deleted] again I will have to kick you in the Jimmy......oh wait, maybe you were not referring to me....

Margin of victory is considered in many computers polls, though many actually take the square or cube root of the margin so that a blowout does not completely destroy the "integrity" of the rankings

Also how can the #1 team in the country be a 10 point underdog this weekend. Maybe we should let the people in Vegas decide who is the Big 12 champion.

In the computer polls, it shouldn't matter. In the human polls - the polls which are supposed to account for which team LOOKS stronger, it should matter to some extent. What I see right now are two teams (Texas and OU) who finished their seasons in style (OU blowing out Tech and having another great game at OSU; Texas who held A&M to a negative amount of yards rushing while blowing them out just two weeks after destroying KU in Lawrence). Meanwhile, Texas Tech didn't show up in Norman and was taken to the wire by a good, but still weak by Big XII standards Baylor last week.

So, Texas and OU looked good in the last two games while Tech didn't. The next thing that needs to be looked at is the season as a whole. Texas had one bad half against Tech on the road, while OU had practically one bad half against Texas at a neutral site (and anyone arguing that the Cotton Bowl is not a neutral site needs to attend a RRS game...if you can get an extra ticket, take me with you!). Texas seems to have a better defense, while OU seems to have a better offense.

So the two teams' seasons appear to be pretty equal, so the only way to separate them is head-to-head. Texas has the edge there.

That being said, I'd give the Heisman to Sam Bradford.

I think there is no question that McCoy deserves the Heisman.

its not an MVP award relative to importance to your team - its a skill at your position award.

Bradford is better in that category.
