It must've been great to have a Braniff plane they'd paint for each game. Relevance is probably something they took for granted in those days....

We have some of the pictures from that game up at athletichistory.com.
We were #1 in the nation heading to Austin but unfortunately lost 23-20.
Funny to see some of the UT guys wondering if #44 was somebody important. He was very important to us and the whole nation knew who he was after his performance against Notre Dame the year before in Dallas -- the great Kyle Rote.

Lots of youngin's troll the interweb these days. My dad wasn't even alive when these photos were taken, so I didn't know who #44 was either, until I looked him up.

Me either. Flew Texas International once. I remember flying SWA when the stewardesses wore hot pants. That was good for young loins to see.
