Depending on what happens in the Harris poll, it could be up to the computers! (Florida was already #2 in the Harris poll last week, so can't pick up as many points in that one.)

I have been updating my data as I receive it, and I still expect texas to be #2 in the computer polls, though it is pretty close. One scenario that I ran locks them in a dead heat at .930

I would expect the Harris Poll results to cement the title game match-up: Oklahoma vs. Florida.

I am not sure whether or not they release that data prior to the announcement. Something tells me it won't happen

Longhorns stay third in coaches poll

Texas stayed third in the final regular-season USA Today coaches poll. But the Longhorns did pick up four, first-place votes.

Oklahoma edged Florida for first, 1,482 points to 1,481. The Longhorns totaled 1,408.

Southern California and Alabama tied for fourth with 1,309.

The Bowl Championship Series standings will be released at 7:20 p.m. today. There was a remote possibility that Texas could get a spot in the national championship game because the Longhorns could stay ahead of Florida in the computers.

But it’s likely the Gators will have enough of a lead in the human polls to get them a trip to Miami.

In voting a week ago, no coach voted the Longhorns No. 1.

Florida was No. 1, Oklahoma No. 2 and Texas’ chances of getting a championship trophy took a hit.

The Longhorns were No. 3 in The Associated Press college football poll released Sunday, behind the two teams expected to be matched later in the day in the national title game Jan. 8 in Miami.

The Gators finished the season No. 1 in the AP poll two seasons ago, but before that Florida last led the media rankings in October 2001.

Tim Tebow and the Gators won the Southeastern Conference championship Saturday with a 31-20 victory against previously unbeaten and then-No. 1 Alabama.

Florida, which received 50 first-place votes, becomes the sixth team to be No. 1 this season. Georgia started there. Southern California took over after the first games were played and held the top spot for four weeks.

Harris poll is usually released sometime in the afternoon before the BCS rankings come out. Not sure if it will be today though.

All of the computer rankings (other than Sagarin) usually don't get posted until after the rankings are announced. (But they are available somewhere. The coaches always have them early.)
