UL director of athletics David Walker said on Monday that the Cajuns have talked with Conference USA members SMU and Tulane and the Mid-American Conference office concerning their final non-conference opening on Sept. 12 of next season. UL opens against Southern on Sept. 5 before playing at LSU on Sept. 19 and at Nebraska on Sept. 26. The Cajuns would like to play at home on Sept. 12.

I could use a road trip to Lafayette. Great little city that has awesome food and incredibly friendly people. It is a great place to take in Mardi Gras as well.

The SMU/Mizzou game was scheduled for Sept 19 wasn't it?
But the SMU/Ragin Cajun game would be Sept 12?

Mizzou was cancelled....
I am wondering if we are going to use
the cancelled Mizzou weekend for another game?
or leave it as an open date and play the Ragin Cajuns
a week earlier?

don't we have open dates on 9/12 and 9/19 depending on what CUSA does with dates? probably the type of game we need to schedule right now...with an open home date on our 2010 schedule, this may depend on Lafayette's ability to reciprocate in 2010. This is better than scheduling another FCS team and the Cajuns will bring as many fans as most of our CUSA opponents...but let's face it...by 2010 we need to be able to generate our own fan interest by having a MUCH improved product on the field.
