about his kids that hate him. Refuse to take joy in a crappy family, but I'm not going to get too upset about kids forsaking this one.

Hansen obviously has no clue what being a good father is. I have no idea what Hanson makes, but I bet that in his 2 highest earning years he made more than my father did in his entire life (even if you adjust for inflation). But what my father gave me, you can't put a price tag on. He gave of himself each and every day.

As it is with my father-in-law, he treated his kids like crap as they were growing up, and now that he's paying for it, he wonders why he can't figure out what to do to get them back. Sorry pal, that ship has sailed, and you missed it.

Here's hoping that those of us with kids are more like my father, and not my father-in-law, or worse yet, Dale Hansen.

I think in his own bizarre way, he was trying to reach out to his kids because he loves them and does not want his relationship with them to suffer any more.

Yeah, the public tongue lashing was pretty thoughtless and poor method, and I'm sure he did more harm than good. But I read the whole thing, and I think the fact that he has little to no relationship with them is eating him up.

I know with my girls, if I ever got to that point with them, I would be a lost soul. I pray that never happens.

the use of a public forum (which he should be thankful he still has) is a poor choice of reaching out to your children... i can only imagine how this played out in their minds... then again im not them

I'm sure it does hurt the guy. But even in the way he appears to be trying to reach out to them is arrogant. He's trying to say that they have it better than other people (the whole section that followed the proverb of the man with no feet). Just because they might have it better than someone else, should they accept the fact that he was a bad father? What a sack of crap!

The idea that buying kids stuff is parenting is beyond my comprehension. The most important thing a child needs is the love of his parents, and that is free to give, it just takes time.

I just wish I got to see my son more.

Interesting timing for [deleted] Hansen to do this 'editorial' after his son was quoted in the DMN over the weekend in connection with the Geis triple homicide case.

Eric Hansen, son of WFAA-TV sports anchor Dale Hansen, said he had known Ms. Geis for three years and had been dating her for the past few months. He said Mr. Geis was rarely at home when he would come to the house to drop off his 8-year-old son, who was best friends with Matthew Geis.

He also said that Ms. Geis told him she was getting a divorce from her husband of 11 years.

Frank Geis said he and his wife were not getting a divorce. "If that was the case, wouldn't there be a public record?" A search of Dallas County records turned up no divorce filing.

He also said it was not true that he had been living elsewhere.

Mr. Hansen said that Ms. Geis was a stable woman – up until she called him after last Saturday's alleged home invasion.

"She was hysterical," Mr. Hansen said. "If she faked that, that woman deserves an Oscar."

Still, he said that as days passed, he came to believe the alleged attacks did not occur as she related them.

"The stories themselves made no sense, but the person telling them didn't have a history of telling these kinds of stories."

Well Dale, you may not consider yourself arrogant or conceited but you sure as hell are self-centered.

Oh, and Dale, while you are trying to place a guilt trip on your kids for not having a horrible disease or genetic deformity, keep in mind that you are not the only parent around that has a screwed up relationship with their kids.

As you pointed out, we all have our challenges in life. Instead of whining about it, figure out a way to met those challenges. For starters, it appears you love throwing out guilt trips on the kids. Dale, this is one of seven dysfunctional methods of persuasion. And it appears it doesn’t work anymore. The problem is they are not small children that see you as a god like figure and trust everything you do and say. They are middle aged rational individuals that now take offense to your tactics. Clue to Dale, change your tactics from guilt trips to something more in line with the respect all adults deserve.

I hate clueless individuals that leave a wake of misery everywhere they go and have absolutely no clue that they are the disaster and not those around them.

Delete this thread. This is pretty absurd.

Let's see. You do not want any talk about Arkansas, the 70's, and want specific threads deleted. Perhaps you can just post the set of rules you have been given authority over and then we can all begin to please you.

There is a way to accomplish that without deleting the thread.
