I thought it was interesting in reading articles about that game to learn of the off season jobs that the players had to take to supplement their income.
On a side note to that, I had the opportunity to meet and shake the HUGE hand of Hall of Famer Bronco Nagarski while he pumped gas into our family car in International Falls, Minnesota several years ago. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
I recorded it and just watched it. Rote was captain of the Giants and was involved in a big play where he fumbled and it was picked up by another Giant much like that fumble and recovery in the Texas game.
The interviews were good, but having the current players interviewing the old players was cheesy. Some did OK, others didn't add much except to talk about how little those guys made in the old days. Berry really was the catalyst for that offense. It very interesting to hear all those old Colts comment on how he practiced and played the game with Unitas - very cool.
