That says it all, definately not a big time conference, a bunch of fraud teams that had pillow fights with each other all year.

Again, all of these games went the way I said they would (It was in a thread that was killed). And if anyone accuses me of not saying that, then you know whose buttocks you can kiss.

At least Iowa kept it from total humiliation drilling South Carolina, 31-10. Nice of the keeper of the star to omit that.

I went on a limb with Penn State and was wrong. I think I said 2-5.

For me, my passion for the conference will never change, but I also understand its shortcomings.

The problem that a lot of these coaches is that they don't get the speed at the linebacker and defensive line positions that their bowl opponents did. Yes, I know Kirk Herbstreit also said that. But I watch the games too.

That stood out in all of the games. I don't see much of a difference in the skill positions at WR and RB. The QB is 50-50.

The question is going to be when are the head coaches and their staffs going to recognize that and address this? If they don't, then it's going to be the same stuff year after year.

I'm aggravated when Wisconsin gets off on its Power reputation -- how's that worked out in the bowls the last couple of years?

I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated. But the results on the field speak for themselves, even in the big games during the season. See Ohio State at USC.

I think it is obvious that these teams are not as strong as the teams in the Big 12 or the SEC and maybe even the Pac 10 (that could be a stretch) so why do people always want to talk about these Big 10 teams playing for the national championship? I think that year after year the Big 10 proves to be a disappointment in bowl games so why do people expect that to change every year and say that they are some of the best teams in the nation? (And yes, I do realize that I am going to look completely stupid if Ohio State some how beats Texas)

This is a trend that has been going on for 10-15 years and it ain't gonna change long term-there will be sporadic exceptions but the Big 10 suffers because they simply don't have access to the best athletes which are found in hmm let me see Texas(UT, OU, Tech not to mention little TCU), California(where USC dominates) Florida(Florida Gators) and the Deep South(Alabama and LSU among others) . Maybe they ought to schedule SMU and spend Thursday and Friday Nite recruiting in Texas. Maybe the Big 12 North ought to do the same thing-the Big 12 North seems to get left out of criticism because the South is great but the Big 12 North is being simply dominated by the South because of-RECRUITING.

I know it is tradition for it to be big 10 and pac 10 in the rose bowl, but i wish there was a way to get the big 10 out of this game. A big 10 team has not won since 2000 when wisconsin beat stanford.

its a bit funny for smu fans to bag on the Big 10 or any other league. I grew up and remain an Illinois fan. If Illinois played SMU, I would wear red. Thats where I went to school and a win would mean much more to SMU than Illinois.

having said that up front, the south definitely has the most freakish athletes. i dont know why LSU doesnt win the nat'l championship every year really. the big ten is respectable. Getting handled by USC in the Rose Bowl is no disgrace. they are phenomenally good these days after 15 years of mediocrity themselves. plus its basically a home game for them. Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State are among the great college football programs in the country no doubt about that. Wisky, Michigan State, Illinois and Iowa have been up and down like yo yos the past 25 years, but still respectable. The ACC, Big East and Pac 10 have their holes and yo yo programs too. So does the Big 12 really. colorado, A&m and Nebraska have all spit the bit. OU went through the wilderness in the 90s too and hit with Stoops but you never know what they will look like in 10 years.

2002 -- Ohio State wins the national championship

Can we stop this? The access argument is BS. Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State have names and legendary status and will always get their share of great players. I said the flaw was what they were getting on the DL and LB.

You can take that argument and shove it.

I know i'll get drilled on this, but OSU shouldn't have beaten Miami in 2002. Refs pretty much determined who was going to win with a BS call on pass interference.

The Big Ten is horrible. Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State WERE big college programs - but they are all basically mid level ACC teams now, and dropping. You can put Notre Dame in there as well.

The reason these programs are dropping like rocks - never to return to their glory days is that nobody wants to play (and especially practice) in miserable weather if they have the choice - and since all of the Big ten is in uninhabitable areas of the country - the top national recruits naturally select not to play there. Therefore, the decline will continue.

Also - General, you listed 11 teams - please explain. I thought it was the Big Ten?

sorry General, I got this one. Obviously you are not a college football fan if you did not know that the Big 10 has 11 teams. If you are going to comment on how bad conferences are, please know who and how many are in each conference!

Plus all the big time players know if you go to Texas they will give you free drugs and women will love on each other in front of you!...and thats just when they are recruiting you!
