It's essentially the Cotton Bowl Parade, which is why they are debating whether or not to have it here or in Arlington next year.

Of course having run to Jerry World for their new abode, screw them. Have the parade in Arlington and look as small time as they deserve. While they are at it, they should change the name of the game to the Jerry Bowl.

Posted: Sun Jan 04, 2009 1:59 pmAnd if you want the SMU band to march in the New Years' day parade, who is going to pay for it? Remember, this occurs during the winter break and the students are home for the holidays. They will have to be brought back to Dallas, put in some sort of housing, meals, travel to the parade site, etc, etc.
The bands that are in the Cotton Bowl are already being provided these expenses as participants in the bowl. If you can get the Cotton Bowl to cough up a few $10K to cover the expenses, then I agree the band should be a part of this event, but I just don't see it happening.
