Because he has dual abilities, he stands a good chance of getting picked up by an NFL team or a CFL team. I could see him on kickoffs and punting duties with a team that needed a strong leg. I would hope my Redskins would give him a look, if he's not drafted.

One of the classiest college kids I've ever met. I'll be very happy to hear when he makes a pro team.

I wonder if his inconsistency cost him a possible spot in the draft. His leg is as strong as anyone's, but he had soem major swings in production this year.

Morstead is usually, this poll aside, ranked #1 at his position heading into the draft.

He'll definitely be drafted. He's projected approx 5th round, but a big Senior Bowl and Combine would definitely push him forward. There's a LOT of teams that need a punter this year.

Now that he has commited to being a punter, his consistency and technique with improve and his stock will rise.

Morestead's greatness is hangtime and kicks inside the 20. Punting average is so overrated but Morestead can boom it too- Morestead has exactly what the NFL Scouts are looking for.

Thomas seems like a very nice young man and his parents are just lovely. That being said, one morning Mr H was at practice and there were two NFL scouts there looking at Thomas. Hope he gets drafted and enjoys a long, rewarding career.

Senior Bowl Analsis

SMU punter Tom Morstead really put on a show. Standing in the corner of the end zone, he was booming kicks into the bleachers across the field. Two kids started shagging balls, and no matter where the kids moved to, Morstead nailed it right to them. Great height on his kicks. Not that I advocate drafting a punter, but Morstead certainly belongs in the NFL.

I would draft him in the 6th if i needed a punter/back up kicker... these guys can play forever so it could be a worthwhile investment. hell Sepulveda was drafted in the 4th round!

We should be very proud of Thomas should something work out in the NFL. Heck, you could make the case the best player to come out of Notre Dame the last 10 years has been their punter Hunter Smith who is with Indianapolis. Smith played his football at Sherman.

Fitting that the only player SMU would have in the NFL is a punter!
