SMU already being dissed by Washington State

Postby HB Pony Dad » Wed Jan 28, 2009 8:34 pm

SMU, led by former Hawaii Head Coach June Jones, should provide the Cougars their one gimmie, as the Mustangs finished last season with a 1-11 record.

"What a turnaround. After SMU, the Cougars hit the road for a heavyweight bout with national powerhouse USC."

Doesn't it take two heavyweights to have a heavyweight bout?

Wow jkflamebo,

Maybe we should just do the world a favor and off ourselves. We might at least show up and see what happens.

When was the last time we won a non-conference game on the road? Did we win a road game in our infamous 6-6 season two years ago?

I think we won at Tulane that year...When Jessie Henderson ran the KO back for a TD.

If I am counting correctly, the last non-conference road win was Arkansas in '96. I was at the game and remember it, but who knew we'd have to wait so long for another one? (I'm not counting the '97 game with Arkansas because that was at a neutral site and SMU was the home team.)

I can't believe we haven't won at TCU since '93.

Yes, Tulane in '06 and TWO road wins in '05 (UAB and UH).

Anyone want to lay odds that ESPN will call it the Pillow Fight of the week?

You have to count the 97 win against Arkansas in Shreveport as a road
win because I drove 3 1/2 hours on a road to it, and I'm still here waiting
in line for tickets to it.

That doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as the length of time since our last win at Rice....

I drove to that game as well (after driving from Tulsa to Euless earlier in the day).

When my friends and I saw the long line for will call and short line for tickets, we just bought new tickets and went inside. It made the game twice as expensive, but the win eased the pain.
