That's the sound of demolition charges making room for the new signing class.

Wow.

There are a few surprising names on that list, including a few that had significant playing time last year.

So we no longer have the "once a Mustang scholarship recipient, always a Mustang" policy?

Wow. See ya De'Von Bailey, Jordan Johnson, Alex Odiari, Deyon McElroy....That's a lot to lose on the defensive side of the ball. De'Von Bailey has been just a MASSIVE disappointment. I thought that kid really had talent.

Here is the freebie DMN blog:

Disappointing about De'Von Bailey, the signature player from the 2007 class. There's a reason Odiari has been bouncing around. And for McElroy, he certainly didn't live up to his JUCO credentials, did he?

Well, there's the player movement from the current roster we were looking for to get other guys on the roster.

I find it interesting that several were from Jones' first class. But it's not a total surprise when you consider a new coach's first recruiting class is always hodgepodge.

.....and now we know the rest of the story. A few of us have been trying to break down how the heck we were going to get down the 85 when we had about 97 on scholarship.

Did Odiari even get on the field last year? Disappointed to see Bailey go, I remember him getting burned deep on one play last year. Still would have liked to see if he had anything, maybe at a position besides safety...

Glad to see neither Sanders or Robinson on that list, which raises the question.....

Was this mainly a displinary action or was it mainly a way to reclaim scholarships of players that are not part of the long term plan?

Nothing wrong with that per se, if you are not living up to expectations, you don't need to be breaking rules and giving the staff an opportunity to cut you.

Probably a little bit of both bagice. I hope that Jones isn't just picking guys who are buried on the depth chart and kicking them off the team, but there is clearly a handful of guys that are content to sit back with their 40K a year scholarship and coast by. Get those kids out of here and bring in some guys that want to earn their scholarship and be a part of what gets this thing going in the right direction.

Heh, DMN college blog is interesting today, while looking for this story, this caught my eye:

I think this is the real reason for the friction!

Now back to the Kabooom topic.....

It is? Between the 4 of them they made 27 tackles last year. Combined. Bailey is the only one who even played in more than 5 games.
