Let's talk running backs

The athletic web site is not updated and I know we've talked about it until we're blue in the face, but heck with it, it's late February. Granted, we're very thin there.
In light of the roster shakeup, the best I can tell our RB situation is:
Chris Butler
Shawnbrey McNeal (sp? -- maybe)
B.J. Lee (but he is listed as a WR)
Chris Frazier (if that's where they intend him to play -- I don't know)
Bryce Lunday (?)
I haven't heard if there are any players that might be moved over there to create depth, but this is the best I can think of it.
We potentially would have a pretty solid 1-2 combination. I think Butler can be really good if he gets stronger and McNeal may overtake him should he become eligible.
Heaven knows we need something in that department next year to make this offense reach the heights we anticipate.

General I hate to sound like jtstang, but RB is one position I am worried about.
I wish we coulda got that kid driving the Jag up to Mizzou.

As a power play or blocking on certain plays...reckon he might move Coulter there for a few plays in some games...especially if he doesn't start at linebacker...he is 6'1" 240 and runs a 4.58...might be inticing to coach jones...just a thot...Go Mustangs!!!

They relieved Goldthorpe of his duties, and he was a RB, right?
This position and defensive tackle/noseguard will be the spots I pay the closest attention to in Spring Ball.

I must confess that I am not that worried because BJ looked good until he got injured, I think Butler has some promise and this kid from Miami will give us some experience (maybe not much game experience but, let's face it, the Miami scout team would probably whoop our posteriors).
It's not like McKinney and D-Mart lit up the universe last season.
Which reminds me. Was Morestead's run in the UCF game the longest rush of last season?

JJ has the scat backs. He needs a superback type which he may end up having with Clay Wilson or a converted LB.

When can we hope to hear on the NCAA ruling concerning McNeal's waiver? Sure would be nice to have him immediately.

I wouldn't think it would be until the summer. That's how long we had to wait for Serge Elizee to become eligible when he left Minnesota after their winter quarter.

JJ said if we need RB's we can move some LB's to that position since they are all fast.
The new Texas Football said both BJ Lee and Lunday could make a splash this upcoming season

Have you ever seen the movie "Colors?"
There's two bulls standing on top of a mountain. The younger one says to the older one: "Hey pop, let's say we run down there and [deleted] one of them cows". The older one says: "No son. Lets walk down and [deleted] 'em all".

BJ Lee and Bryce Lunday both looked good last year. JJ will be looking for a big blocking back in the Spring. Someone that can actually run a few yards without falling down every time he's touched.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Lee could probably help at another position or in kicking game. I'd be surprised if they ever get significant time at RB in their entire career. They definitely could this year though only because of lack of depth and recruiting failures/deficiencies. Hopefully, we can actually sign more Division 1A quality RBs in the future.

You forgot to be worried about the defense too.
