Anyone heard anything about a possible date change of the game for 2009? Heavy rumors have surfaced that we're going to play at Clemson on 9/26/09. In order for that to happen, SMU had to agree to move the date of the game.
Possibly moved to opening weekend and y'all move the game with SFA to another weekend? Possibly playing on 9/12 and we move our game at Virginia to another weekend? Any insight would be great.
Thanks

Clemson has already locked in their non-conference schedule which features Middle Tennessee, Central Michigan & Coastal Carolina (FCS) along with their annual rivalry game with South Carolina. If there is any substance to this rumor, it could be because Central Michigan wants out of this game after getting pounded by 50 pts last time they visited.

Looks like Central Michigan bailed on Clemson. Doesn't mean that the replacement game has to take place on the 26th though. Not sure why SMU would need to rearrange its schedule to accommodate Central Michigan, TCU, and Clemson.......but I suppose it is possible?
If you guys do pick Clemson up though, good luck. Their defense is for real. (Their offense needs some work though. No idea who they have coming back either.) That one might be worth the road trip too. Supposed to be a great place to see a game, and I was pretty impressed with their fans at the bowl game.

C.J.Spiller is coming back for Clemson and will be their featured back as he prepares for a big NFL contract. They will have a new QB so an early season game will be an opportunity for someone to knock them off. Clemson has one of the better home atmospheres ion college football and a great campus to visit. Tough finding accomodations on football weekends, though. Probably have to look in nearby Greenville, SC

I wish we would revert back to playing the Horny Toads the last game of the year. That would bring back some of the tradition that the rivalry needs!

news here in SC is that TCU/Clemson on 9/26 could be announced as early as today.
I agree - it would be nice to play TCU during "rivalry week" but SMU needs to be more competitive before that happens.

except that both are small private schools. Rivalry week is bad b/c it's thanksgiving and the students from both schools go home, and fans travel for thanksgiving. the last week of the year is when school is wrapping up in december and everyone's either in finals or headed home.
