new information on bo"s tattoojust so all you naysayers know... i play on the football team and have seen bo levi mitchell"s tattoo, i have also asked him of the story, his uncle called him gunslinger in highschool and told him to put that tattoo there, his uncle passed
Well, I sorry to hear about that. I wish his family well and I hope they all get past the torture I know their hearts must be feeling from their loss.
Re: new information on bo"s tattoo
Lots of us, including myself, wish him well...if he has a good season, everyone else will too. Unfortunately, our fans eat their young which is kind of understandable after 20 years of utter frustration and mismanagement. That'll all change soon as you all start winning. Have a great season.
Bo had an Uncle that was killed in a motorcycle accident a couple of years ago. When Bo was home for his Bday (March 3) his cousins bought him the tatoo in honor of their father, who called Bo "Gunslinger" in High School. I think Bo seems a little embarrassed by all the attention, but I think he comes from a very tight family, and felt he had to do it.
I'm not sure why Bo told me this, but I believe him. Bowl Time...
I agree with that I really do think Bo is going to dominate next year. I am a huge Bo fan. I even got a pic of him side-arming a ball as my background Like I have said before. Bo came in after running a running offense in high school and had 3 weeks to learn one of the most complicated passing O's. Timy Chang was put in about the same situation and him and Bo had roughly the same true freshman stats. I am copy and pasting my predicted stats for Bo this season from another thread. My Stats for BLM 2009 38 Touchdown Passes 15 INT 63.5 % comp Dunno about yards 4 rushing td's Does that sound about right?
Bo is a good dude, and I'm sure the tatt is not for his ego or arrogance. That is a really cool story about where it came from, and thanks for sharing.
Quick anecdote: After the homecoming game I was at Ozonas and BLM walks up not even knowing us. He recognizes that we are SMU folk and the first thing he asked was "who won homecoming king and queen?". That may seem like a small thing, but it made a big impression because it showed he really cares about the big picture at SMU. Carrying that kind of attitude out in public is a significant contrast from our previous starter. Bo may not have played a great game, but that was a great play, and I am confident he would have done the same thing even if he threw for 400 yds 5 tds 0 ints and got the victory. Looking forward to 09. Get your pones up.
If we go to a bowl game next year under BLM, the tat will be on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Going to be a bowl game would be a huge accomplishment, but it's going to take a BCS bowl or a Texas Tech-like output to get his goofy tattoo on the cover of SI. Come to think of it, how many tech QBs have been on the cover of SI? I would settle for the cover of the DMN
No Tech QB took the worst D 1 team in 25 years to a Bowl Game
Although I realize that getting SMU to a bowl game would be a huge deal, you don't usually get the cover of SI for moral victories. That is to say, taking Rutgers to a BCS game for the first time is a way bigger deal on a national scale than SMU going to be Galleryfurniture Poulan Detroit Bowl.
Getting SMU to a bowl game is about equal to A&M getting to the sweet 16 a couple of years ago. Huge deal for them...not that huge of a deal nationally (although I think they did get a cover...or half a cover at some point).
