If Shaunbrey cant get the grades goin, it leaves us really thin at RB going into summer/fall . BJ and Lunday, then pray for Sunday. We have 10 really good wideouts, but the runnin back position concerns me. Dont you need a stud runner to open up the "run and shoot" ?

I saw Chris Butler at RB when I went to practice and he is really looking good.

I don't know that they were really counting on him to come in this year, being that he's a D-I transfer and he may have to sit out a year if his waiver doesn't get approved. One can hope his waiver gets approved but I think that they were going to operate as though it did not get done.

Isn't Zach Line playing RB now? He could be a sleeper at that spot. Stranger things have happened

You have to work that way, but I got the sense the athletic department felt pretty confident that the NCAA was going to grant the waiver because of his family circumstances.

The CORRECT ANSWER: SMU rolled the dice and may end up paying the price at RB. They knew they needed another RB but didn't get that done in recruiting. They rolled the same dice at QB. They are not adequately deep at either position.

a partial answer to your question is that he's working to become academically eligible & they expect him to be there next fall if he passes everything.
another reason too, might be injury, not sure

He has a hamstring injury and is working on rehab-ing that. He also transferred in with a pitiful GPA, hopefully he can get that fixed.

How can a correct answer have the word MAY in it? How about will end up paying for it. You might to shelve that answer until we know McNeal's status.
Nice CYA statement.

You ask your usual DUMB question. May refers to things that occur in the future as in injuries, academic issues and other attrition Nostradamus. Why don't you concentrate on your speciality Captain Abandon the Ship-driving the "Fire the Next Coach" bandwagon AFTER things aren't working out.

Right but you don't know that injuries to the RB position are going to pop up. You also don't know if McNeal will or will not be academically eligible. You also don't know specifically how the attrition factor will play itself out -- if it all.
So again, your correct answer is not correct. It's more speculative. If he makes it through and you have him and Butler back there, then your depth is not as problematic.
If he doesn't, then you could have a problem. The bottom line is that you just don't know as much as you think you do.
I'm still waiting for that thesis.

It will not be the end of the world if Shawbrey cannot play this year and instead we get him next year and the year after that.
