Monday's Practice

Three of us as well attended this mornings practice. Leaving I noticed my car thermometer read 46, with a strong north wind.

Justin Willis was injured and taken off the field, it appeared he injured his right leg or knee while catching a low thrown pass. I don't know the extent of his injury, but obviously hope it is only minor. The trainers seemed to take a number of precautions.

The rest of the practice began to get crisper as the sun warmed the stadium--they finally seemed to go at it with both the offense and defense with partial contact and even some angry exchanges. It was good to see the quarterbacks and receivers execute the offense amongst the defensive players. I would imagine that the players began to enjoy themselves.

I will leave it to the experts to go into details, only that we finally seem to have a number players with some real size. They really seem to be shape, I didn't even see any "gut" hanging over the pants on our offensive lineman. This is the extent of my very limited observations as I am still trying to warm up.

It was his ankle. And it did not look good, at all. ala Southern Miss receiver during that bowl game last year.

Your right, but I didn't want to seem like an "alarmist" before knowing what the injury was. Unfortunately it reminded me of watching Chris Cunningham get injured in practice a few years ago.

After criticizing his attitude, his second year, I have become a real "Justin Fan" and I am hoping he has a great year this fall. He has really shown me something in coming to terms with changing coaches and positions, not to mention his own expectations in terms how we built him up in our promotions, etc. I cannot think of a player I want to see succeed more. "God speed" (ah, except for Evan)...

Man that SUCKS. Even if "just" a sprain...I've had them take 6 months to get all the way back to normal.

Had to have been painful. Get better, Jwill.
