It's not often that a team takes its statistical leader and moves that player to a new position. But after Pete Fleps led the 2008 Mustangs in tackles - by a wide margin - the SMU coaches wanted to get the best players on the field at the same time, and with Patrick Fleming and Youri Yenga moving to outside linebacker positions, they had to figure out a way to keep Fleps on the field.
Fleps visited with PonyFans.com to discuss the move, the subtle differences in playing inside, as opposed to playing on the edge, and how his new fellow linebackers will fit in as they drop back from the defensive line into their new roles.
