As most of you know, I like to spend my free time - and as much of the time that I'm on the clock as possible - outside The Ford watching coeds jog around campus.
So imagine my surprise when a guy who looked like Eric Metcalf walked past me into the football offices last week. I don't know who it was, frankly, just that it looked a lot like the kid who deked me almost out of the Commonwealth of Virginia when I went to wrap him up on a punt return back in high school. (For you other Gen Xers out there, think the ubiquitous O.J. McDuffie highlight.)
Anyway, has anyone heard anything about Metcalf interviewing for a job with us? I don't know whether he can coach - and really, I don't care - but I have to think he'd be a helluva recruiter.
There's a loud drunk (with a trail of hair the size of Florida down his neck) at 1st and 10 who I heard talking about Woodrow Lowe the other night. But like Metcalf - if that actually was Metcalf I saw - I haven't read anything about June's plans for the staff.
Anyone?

JJ mentioned that he met with Eric Metcalf today. From his Twitter feed 4 hours ago: Great to see Eric Metcalf today....we talked about old times and the future....

Think he can help recruit northern VA and Washington state as well, if we want to go outside of our 300-mile radius. He also has the Texas ties. Would be agood special teams coach and recruiter.

I don't mean to be insensitive after the passing of Coach Gansz, but I was wondering if he would be able to coach special teams. We know he can teach the return game, and surely he understands where people should be go block correctly, but did Metcalf ever get asked to block anyone? Could he teach the technique involved? Coach Gansz was such a perfectionist, so meticulous about things... I'm not saying Metcalf couldn't do the same, but has he ever coached anywhere?

I'm sure that JJ knows what he's looking for and part of that comes through the interviewing process. If TM is the right guy, then JJ will hire him. If not, then JJ will keep looking.

So if Metcalf is hired, who would get moved where?

I believe the real question is who will be hired, there are a number of candidates and they will select the best. Any shuffling will depend upon who is hired and what position the coach is qualified to coach.

if Metcalf is hired he will coach the WR.
Reinbold would then most likely coach special teams and or linebackers. He can coach every position on the team extremely well except OL and QB.
