Re: June Jones' mentor
What Mouse has accomplished in football is simply amazing. In the mid 1970's when he first introduced the Run & Shoot, an idea he took from Tiger Ellison, football was very much the 3 yards and a cloud of dust philosophy. Remember, Bob Griese had played in two Super Bowls throwing a grand total of 18 passes... Mouse's QB average that a quarter. His ideas were adopted by virtually everyone, including Bill Walsh and today, every team in the country, be it high school, college or pro, has some form of his ideas at work. A true innovator, a truly wonderful human being. Whether or not he finds his way to SMU remains to be seen, but even if he stays retired his legacy will live on every time a team drops back to pass the football. ![]()
