8. Steve Orsini, SMU athletics director. Orsini has his handprints on the growth of two C-USA programs. He hired George O'Leary at UCF, helped convince UCF leaders to shell out the money for a new stadium and basketball arena on campus and made a big splash at SMU by luring June Jones from Hawaii by offering a $2 million annual salary.

14. June Jones, SMU football coach

Let me get this straight - we finished last in C-USA (a watered-down conference) in football and basketball last year and our programs have supposedly grown?? really?

Was JJ a splash hire? Yes. But as of now the program has not shown any improvement in wins, attendance or recruiting. Granted JJ has only been here one season but Orsini has been here for several. And basketball, well..........

Yes, JJ is one of the big players in the conference. He is overhauling the entire program. We'll see a few more wins this year, and more than that — and a return to bowl eligibility — in 2010-11. JJ is absolutely one of the heavy hitters in the conference.
