I can't come up with one positive on the field
tonight. Not one. Absolutely disasterous loss.
The mistakes were unbelievable, almost funny. The only positive was the crowd was much bigger than I expected for whatever thats worth. We can't even blame the effort on our crowd like times before. I wouldn't be surprised if we played our way out of CUSA contention tonight. What did we do to deserve this? F-me.

The football gods still have not been nice to us. Poor execution. Blocked punt and fumble - when with this sh*t stop? We are the WORST TEAM in Division 1 football. Our receivers are midgets.

Really? How about:

- Blake Warren being the most impressive punt returner we've had in ages. We've had some good ones (Cardwell, Comet, Rhinehart), but I can't remember a return guy making moves like that, making people not only miss but look silly in the process.

- No missed field goals (a small feat, but an improvement from recent years, right?)

- Jonas Rutledge playing his heart out. If he didn't have to chase that Jackson kid on the screen pass that turned into the long touchdown, he might have had an extra burst on the ensuing kickoff.

- Matt Rushbrook catching everything thrown near him and making great blocks on special teams.

- Stuffing the UTEP offense -- yes, even the UTEP offense -- on four straight plays starting at the 1-yard line was amazing. Absolutely amazing. That showed a hell of a lot of heart.

Of course, with these positives in mind, now I want to see wins.

Ditto -- thanks, DH.
Always good to find the positive side of things, and you certainly did that.

I admit I was speaking out of some frustration
last night. However, there were some offsets to your positives Dark Horse. Yes, the dline made a great goal line stand, but they also gave up almost 250 yds rushing to Utep. They ran us over pretty good, especially at crunch time. Jonas and Keylon made some great moves. The problem is they are seniors and there is nothing to build on there. This is when those guys need to make game winning plays as veterans. We didn't tackle well and really didn't show much enthusiasm even with a decent crowd and a chance to win. Blake Warren is a nice player, you are right about that. I think we still have some potential, but I really want to see some results like we all do. Its becoming too late to take the redshirt off of Chris Phillips but we need to find spark and something to build on right now.
