Austin, TX (AHN) - University of Texas baseball coach Augie Garrido
was ordered Thursday to serve four days in jail following his driving
under the influence case in January.
Judge Elisabeth Earle handed out the decision for Garrido to serve
his sentence in the Travis County Jail. The tactician was also
ordered to pay a fine amounting to $500.
Garrido was flagged down in the early morning of January 17
after his Porsche Cayenne was seen cruising without its
headlights on.
Authorities later discovered that the coach was reportedly
intoxicated. Garrido entered a guilty plea on February 2.
Due to the incident, the University of Texas slapped a
four-game suspension for Garrido for the 2009 season.
Garrido's four-day sentence in jail will begin in August,
though he has already been credited with two days served.
