Jerry Ball was unbelievable as a player. Just plain DOMINANT! I am happy to see that he has done so well and hope he can make it up to Dallas for a few games in the future.

Reading that reminded me that we are reaching the 25th anniversery of our last bowl appearance this year. One-quarter of a century. Some of you who are now grandfathers were not even fathers yet back then. Impressive.

And some grandfathers may have been women back then...

Great story. Love his take on the DP. Glad to see he is still a Mustang through and through!

My favorite line from Ball:

“This guard from Texas pancake-[blocked] me,â€

Idea:

Instead of the horrific Pony Up fiasco leading the team on the field, position the band on the field playing Peruna while a "Mustang of the Game" leads the team on the field from the tunnel. Jerry Ball, Levias, James, Dickerson, even more recent players, get invited to be that Mustang that week. He then gets a special area on the sideline during at least one quarter to encourage the guys, photo ops, whatever.

Get them involved and help the current regime make a connection with the past.

It was great watching Jerry Ball in action. He was one of the few guys in that position who could set the momentum for a game. Would enjoy hearing him at an SMU athletic forum event.

Pretty cool idea.

Given the ages of his daughters and his loyalty to SMU football, could you imagine if they had all been boys?
