It's nice to have a well spoken coach.

McMackin, speaking Thursday at the Western Athletic Conference media day in Salt Lake City, said each team came together for a cheer, and the Fighting Irish did a "little f----- dance" for Hawaii. The Warriors then performed a shaka, which is a traditional Hawaiian greeting gesture.

What a bunch of pussy_cats the press has become!

N.D. probably did perform a "little f----- dance" especially in comparison to The Haka!

I expect that if all the PCers have their way, "blocking" and "tackling" will soon be banned as well!

Good Grief USC is out and out cheating and this topic gets more press!

Frankly, I'm more worried that Coach McMackin apparently revealed that he messed up last year at the WAC Football Preview and discussed a recruit by name during his press conference. Him asking the media to cover up today's statements like they covered up for his recruit mention (NCAA violation) last year might have brought up an incident that would have been best left in the past.

Last year, you covered for me as far as (inavertently mentioning a) recruit. Cover for me. Go ahead. Say '[deleted] dance.' No, please cover for me on that, too. Right, Karl? I'll deny it.

He should have used the slur word "redneck" and no-one would have cared or bothered to question him about it.

It has nothing to do with being PC. It was just plain wrong. I'm sure if we opened McMacs family closet one or two gay people would fall out. How would he feel if people referred to them this way? It's 2009, time to get out of other peoples bedrooms folks. Judge by the content of ones character not by who they choose to partner with. I couldn't agree more with this video.

This is horrible because that coach was so dumb as to not think before he spoke, not because of what he said.

As for as what he said: I have an indian friend (indian indian, not native american) who was once called a "dot head". He didn't get mad and told me "why should I? It's stupid. Getting mad only makes the insult effective." Sage wisdom.

Former athletic director Hugh Yoshida said in 2000 that the reason the university switched from its longtime Rainbow logo was in part due to its connection as a symbol for gays and lesbians.

"That logo really put a stigma on our program at times in regards to it's part of the gay community, their flags and so forth," Yoshida said then, a day after the current Polynesian-style "H" logo was unveiled.

Yoshida quickly apologized for his comments.

At first I thought Coach McM had dropped the dreaded F bomb as I read the text, now it appears he dropped the dreaded unPC word for gay people. I'm sure he'll have to wear a hula skirt in penance.

He got a 30-day suspension without pay. He read a statement apologizing for his remarks.

Good, I hope he learned his lesson.
