Just caught the broadcast on ESPN within the past minute. Wow!

Mel Kiper, Jr. picks the Mustangs to go 6-6 under JJ in 2009.

Transcript: S.M.U. One and eleven last year but June Jones...June Jones wins wherever he goes. This is a team with a lot of sophomores and freshmen, really built for 2010 when I think they could WIN Conference USA. But I think they go from 1 and 11 to maybe 6 and 6 and June Jones, building a team at S.M.U. that could make everybody proud!

Mel Kiper ought to stick with something he knows something about-Pro Football. Having a lot of freshman and sophomores ain't that important-SMU has been the "Youngest team in the NCAA" for a generation. Having a lot of freshman and sophomore STUDS is important. SMU will not be ready to win Championship in 2010. This year is the first when there was at least some upgrade in talent.

Thank you for raining down no hope, LOL. I guess that’s what happens after 20 years.

I’m calling it now; we win 5 games this year. And I total disagree with you Stallion; I believe we do compete for CUSA in 2010.

Stallion - question - do you consider this incoming recruiting class (the one hitting the field in a week) or next year's (based on some assumption of decency) to be the point from which we begin the count to 3 or 4?

I'm sorry but Kiper is an idiot...he doesn't know ANYTHING about college football outside of potential draft picks

I like how every other team has actual highlights being shown. And then when they talk about SMU,
its old old footage of June with Dark Hair and a Sweet Stache!

The difference between past rebuilding efforts and this one is we have a coach in June Jones who has done it before at every previous stop. He knows what it takes to win and he will make it happen at SMU.

I'm not going to make any predictions about 2010, but I do think we can win some games this year with 6 wins being possible. The talent is getting better with each recruting class. Wins this year, as I have said before, will be huge for us landing some of the top recruits in 2011.
