What I don't get is how they determine that TCU and Utah fell so far after last year? Are they really going to be that much worse?

Here's all you need to know about USA Today: they couldn't tell you what teams are in the Mountain West, much less which teams are good. They're like the print equivalent of Rivals — they go off reputation and marquee value. There are probably folks in their sports department who couldn't even tell you where TCU is and no nothing about it other than the fact that LaDainian Tomlinson went there.

You do realize that the USA Today Poll is the Coaches' Poll right? They always drop the good non-BCS schools down so they can't climb too high and take a BCS bid reserved for their own conferences.

Nope — didn't realize that. I thought we were talking about the hacks who write for the paper (I met a guy who claimed to write regular NFL stuff for them .... all of which he did by phone interviews. Never went to a game and said he rarely watched them.)
Even so, a lot of folks claim that coaches don't do their voting, that their SIDs (often — not always) do it. Maybe that's who's at fault here. Because as much as it makes me puke to say it, Frog High is better than Neuter Dame.

Mississippi at 10?
Other than that I would say a pretty typical Preseason BS Poll and they start falling after Sept. 12 when either the "Fighting Methodists" or the "Buckeyes" take gas!

Even Phil Bennett at times voted in ways that seemed to hurt his conference mates. Didn't he vote not to put Boise in the top 15 when they were undefeated and were in the WAC with us at that point.

Virginia with no votes at all. Get ready for the frogs to take them to the woodshed and then walk around acting all bad because they beat a weak BCS team. I say that only because if we can beat WSU, I plan on doing the same thing

If we beat WSU I'll celebrate. We haven't won a road game since 2006 at Tulane, and we haven't beaten a BCS team of any caliber at home since Kansas in 2000 or on the road since Arkansas in 1996.

Actually, we're quite confident that the Frogs will crush Virginia. Not so confident about Clemson, but their offense (star RB, new QB) plays right into the strength of our defense. If we beat Clemson, you can be sure we'll be walking around acting all bad.
Good luck against WSU. You guys oughta win that one.
