DMN Letter insinuates SMU cheating?

The DMN sports editors chose to publish this in Sunday's paper. It's truly despicable they would do so. I imagine if SMU were to pop a ten-win season and go to a major bowl one day, this would be the angle from the Belo boys: are they cheating?
I say when SMU makes it big again, the DMN is locked out. And WFAA too.
Below is the letter:

Hard to imagine
It was reported on WFAA that SMU football head coach June Jones says that SMU's opener against Stephen F. Austin will be a sellout.

As an SMU sports supporter since the 1970s, if SMU goes from no people in the stands for 10 years at Ford Stadium – plus having a losing record for most of those years – to having a sellout against a school such as SFA on Sept. 5, something is fishy on the Hilltop.

Just saw that too. My first reaction: He's a long time SMU supporter and SMU is doing everything it can to build a team and interest. All he can think about is something is wrong if we suceed???

Thanks Ronald from Dallas. You are really helping us move formward...

I blame the editors and just wrote them. Others should let them hear it.

Why the shock? I wouldn't be surprised at all if this half-wit Ronald Kaim is a member of this message board. Heck there are plenty of people that frequent this site that have that exact same type of thought process. They search out any possible negatives about their team, eager to squash the rare positive news and then just to make sure they aren't accused of cheering for the enemy....they proclaim what "huge fans of SMU they've been for years". I honestly believe once we start winning more football games there are some SMU "fans" that will actually miss being able to say how "terrible" we are/were.

Maybe they published it to show how stupid he is.

I don't think so.
The letter intrigued them, I'm guessing: 'Hey, here's an angle to work. Those guys cheat, you know.'

The editors are Big 12 sycophants who wouldn't follow-up on a lead about UT cheating if they had photo evidence and a signed confession.

AGAIN - I don't blame the idiot who wrote the letter. The DMN didn't have to publish it in the Sunday paper.

How can this guy equate ticket sales to illegal recruiting? That is stupid.

This letter is illogical. What is "fishy" about a sellout? How can you "cheat" on attendance? I know the DMN editors are not our friends, but I think what intrigued them was not that it infers cheating, but that an SMU supporter could be so dumb.

Looks like this guys sends in letters all the time. Google search came up with numerous other letters on various subjects in the DMN.

Here's a letter he wrote to respond to an article in the Daily Campus: http://media.www.smudailycampus.com/media/storage/paper949/news/2009/03/17/News/Diversity.Declining.Smu.Seeing.White-3673474.shtml

As a former student and a donor to SMU, diversity has always been a concern with me. I do not know what goes on behind closed doors of the administration of the university, but personally, the diversity or the lack thereof, is a reflection of the Board of Trustees which is almost all caucastion, the neighborhood it is located in is almost all caucasion, most employees above support staff at the university is almost all caucasion and the people who attend most functions at or related to the university are almost all caucasion. when all of those become diversified, then there will be more diversity in the student body.

Now I think this guy is just an A-hole who likes to complain and is butt-hurt that Orsini isn't kissing him where the sun don't shine because of his tiny Mustang Club donation. http://media.www.smudailycampus.com/media/storage/paper949/news/2007/12/05/News/How-Gerald.J.Fords.Private.Plane.Three.Flights.In.36.Hours.And.A.NotSoSecret.Me-3133311.shtml

From stories from The Daily Campus and the Dallas morning News, it is ashame that a select few boosters are involved in hiring of the new football coach, especially when there is no offical search committee. Also, boosters have raised between $10 and $12 million for a new coach? Funny, I have been a member of the Mustang Club for 30 plus years and no one approached me about donating money for a new coach. What is also funny is that no one approached me for donating money to the Crum basketball center and the expanded all sports center behind Moody especially after the Morning News reported that the school was short on donated money to build the buildings. My gut feeling tells me two things about the last few years of Jim Copelands athletic department and the first 1-1/2 years of Jim Orsini's athletic department.
First, it appears a few of the mighty rich and/or the mighty powerful are running the show or being extremely catered to which could have an affect why there are no middle America people are knocking down SMU'S front door to buy football and basketball tickets.
Second, it also appears that SMU could be heading down the path of another cheating scandal as long as these few boosters are so deeply involved in the hiring process outside of an search committee.

Also, I found some political contributions:

RONALD KAIM (THE BEE LEE COMPANY), (Zip code: 75235) $250 to HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON FOR US SENATE COMMITTEE INC on 11/07/00

$250. Big spender.

And here is his Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ronald.kaim

He's a Democrat, wearing a sweater vest, and is bashing SMU football in the DMN. This guy HAS to be a former liberal arts professor!

Since when is "Marketing" considered cheating? Even if the "Boys" at Belo decided to publish this letter to show the stupidity of the writer. It only shows their stupidity to publish such nonsense.
