Bummer it doesn't count our National Championship that we won. And our various indiscretions during the 80's cost us 24 points...ouch. Add that 24 and we climb a few spots.

Perhaps I'm ignorant of their illustrious fb history going way back, but does anybody else question Boise St. and Fresno ranked ahead of us ALL TIME.

You seemed to have overlooked TCU, tied at #31. :D

I have no idea why UT would be ranked over SMU during the 80’s….that was not a great decade for them if I recall.

so the 2 winning-est football programs in NCAA history don't even make the top 5?....this is shamefully wrong.

I would also like to point out that Texas A&M is at No. 20...they haven't gotten close to winning a title since 1997 and they haven't ACTUALLY won a title since the mid 30's if i remember correctly...and this makes them prestigious because???

Point is it sheds light on SMU football history. The glory years ended when Doak went to Detroit.

the early 80's seem like they were fun...but i understand why we are so far down the list. I think we could move up a couple spots though.

They were fun. Highlight for me was watching SMU crush UT down in Austin the first time. But the disappointment when it all fell apart was even more crushing.
