Receivers coach Jeff Reinebold's office décor features a surfboard propped in one corner. Giant-sized special teams coach Dennis McKnight keeps a tiny hula girl figurine on his desk.

Coach June Jones, the man who once could've been elected governor of the islands, is the reason they're all here, in football purgatory, instead of paradise.
In Year 2 of their latest reclamation project – one Jones sought out – it's only more obvious: SMU sure isn't Hawaii.
Jones transformed Hawaii from 0-12 to 9-4 in 1999, his first season there. He and his staff's unique approach to coaching and their high-powered offense didn't produce the same miracle on the Hilltop in 2008.
SMU went from 1-11 to ... 1-11.
The Mustangs' breakthrough, it seems, will come on SMU time, which is currently a quarter century and counting.
But Jones, with complete confidence in his system, is undeterred.
