parents and insiders, let me say something
Posted: Mon Oct 06, 2003 9:44 amYou have to understand that there is a lot of built up frustration for the typical fan. Most SMU fans are good people and good fans actually. Please permit us some leeway, we are going on something like 17 years of pain. Yes, there has been a winning season (although a painful ending) and some fabulous wins (Arkansas X 3), but the past 6 years have been very, very tough. I'm a parent, my kid plays sports, I understand that perspective. But clearly, most parents follow the team for the brief 4 year window their son is in school. Sometimes its harder for us "outsiders" to stay as positive in the short run. We walk the line of supporting the team/program, but at the same time being the paying customer and having a long term vested interest. There is a place for constructive criticism. Most SMU fans appreciate the individual efforts of ALL the players. I know I do.
