6. SMU Mustangs | Last Year: 1-11 | My 2009 Prediction: 6-6
Don’t let the 1-11 record of last year fool you, the Mustangs are a much better team and may just pull a Minnesota this year (side note: Minny went 1-11 in ‘07 and followed it up in ‘08 with a 7-1 start but finished 7-6). Okay, so the Mustangs, in all likelihood, won’t be going 7-1 to start the season, but they’ll certainly be far more competitive and post a significantly better win total than 1

I posted before and I'll post it again, I think SMU with Jones play calling can easily with 6 games and qualify for a bowl game. Last season is over, snap and clear, the players were young and new to the offensive and defensive schemes. Hawaii didn't have good defensive teams, Jones recruited players for the offense until he built a depth, he felt his team could score on anyone from anywhere on the field. That is why he wants his defense to take chances and win the take away battle so his offense can get back on the field. More offensive possessions, more touchdowns, better chance to win.

At best the SMU ponies will win 3 games. I wouldn't be on here trying to get everyone's hopes up. The Ponies are trash. Maybe Young Jeezy can make a lyric up about being in last place every season. Here comes another weak year. Â
Havent been a contender in years. All this bowl talk is kinda dumb. Get ready for another season of wearing paper bags over your face at home games. June Jones probably is secretly looking for a D-2 job. Talk all you want about how this is the dream year. A dream for SMU fans is to not be the joke of the conference. I sleep good at night because off all the cocky SMU people on here that believe they are better than everyone because daddy makes a little more money than average.  Hope SMU gets steam rolled for the next century. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH 2-22 in the last 2 year? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Maybe you should drop out and start a meth lab in an old barn. The express is dead, just like your program. Good night.

SFA have not been a contender, ever. Your command of the English language is vernacular at best and a demonstration of inattention in school at worst. Please learn to spell. Furthermore, your speculation that June Jones is looking for a Division 2 coaching job is suspiciously unsubstantiated which belies someone with nothing but ill-will. I am all for boasting and talking "trash" but one can find better-conceived rhetoric on an episode of The Bachelor.

The notion that JJ wants our defense to take chances regularly scares the hell out of me. The quality of players just isn't up to par to be successful at it. Seems like if you're a DB on a JJ team, expect to be hung out to dry. We might be able to compete in shootouts against mediocre teams, but it doesn't work against defensively sound teams.

get ready. we'll be in a lot of shootouts over the next few years. on the flip side, JJ has access to a much larger pool of good athletes than he ever did at Hawaii which will help the D but still, focus will always be on offense so strap it on, we're going to have some high scoring games

All I know is if Sanders,Robinson,Wilkerson,and Johnson are on the field at the same time then good luck defending those 4. And the other receivers aren't slouches either.
