Waiting for Godot

I hear the executioner's song and footsteps down the long green mile. No even talks about possibly winning the game with SJSU; not because we have no chance of winning, but because we seem to have lost hope for this season and the future. In all of my years of following the ponies since the days of Doak Walker, I don't ever recall such low morale among the loyal base who used to believe that David might slay Goliath now and then. We have been winless before, but we thought we might win the next game, or least we pretended we could. All pretenses are gone now. Only a win can save us.

I don't doubt that talent-strapped as the team is, the kids are capable of playing and beating virtually everyone left on our schedule. We are a tougher team than our record indicates: the question is will we figure out how to score the three or four points that seem to divide us from winning. We should be 3-2 or 2-3 at this point, and everyone knows it. Everyone is just frustrated because it looks like that wagon is starting to roll, but we don't seem to have moved much; and the answers for why that's the case haven't exactly been forthcoming...
