Any word yet on Shawnbrey McNeal's waiver request?

Kinda silly to make him wait, when the decision was made long ago.

Tomorrow is when the discussion and final decision should be made according to Coach Jones.

has he been practicing? will he play this week if the ncaa clears him?

Good point, but do you think that they might be lenient with us on something like this given how badly they screwed us in the past? Plus we have had a very clean record since the Death Penalty. Just a thought

The NCAA isn't worried about us. THey have a new target to screw. In this case McNeal. I can't believe the NCAA waited until the day before the opener to announce its decision. Talk about a 2 year old temper tantrum! Why do the right thing when one can screw a kid and school in one shot.

Actually, SMU does not have a clean record since the DP...and that sucks because it wasn't due to a lack of institutional control...it was stupid players who had a textbook scam going and a stupid coach who allegedly paid some kid to take Marcus Mosley's SAT....

But I personally don't believe it should have bearing in an individual's petition...that's between McNeal and the NCAA, not necessarily SMU and the NCAA.

Actually the NCAA waiting until a day before the opener might be a blessing in disguise. It gives our opponent less time to prepare for speedy McNeal. Of course Serge Elizee's waiver request granted right before the Texas Tech game didn't throw the Red Raiders off their game.

I think it probably has more to do with the fact that McNeal was not eligible until a few weeks ago. Just like any judicial body why would they waste time to schedule a case of a player who might not be eligible. Almost every school in the country has some kind of case to be ruled on by NCAA. In fact, sometimes the NCAA doesn't rule on these cases until after the season has begun. Nobody has brought that up-but its happened before.

It would be such a huge psychological boost for all if we get the good news that he can play this weekend. He is such a difference maker in their offensive scheme
