Just picked up a copy of The Daily Campus which printed that SMU went 11-1 in 2008! The paper printed it not once but TWICE! It's in the second paragraph of the front page article titled 'Twice As Nice',* as well as in an editorial piece by the paper's sports editor! Last year was a dream! The Mustangs went 11-1, not 1-11!!!

The paper also printed LT Kelvin Beachum's name as KEVIN in the Game Day Breakdown article on the Key Matchup between him and SFA DE Tim Knicky on the front page!

The paper does have several articles about Mustang football team members and other sports. It also urges students to get out and support the team this Saturday. It also has as an editorial about "the best way to sell out Ford Stadium" (selling alcohol).

I was informed today by the author of that story that the copy editor thought that it was a score, not the record, and therefore put the largest number in front.

I suppose that the copy editor knows nothing about sports.

I thought the only way to get 1 point was if the other team forfeited

You used to be correct. However, since the NCAA has set a precedent that when an ineligible player plays, it "never happened" (see Memphis basketball ruling), it is now possible to score one point if you score a touchdown with an ineligible player involved, but there are no ineligible players involved in the PAT.

As I said, the copy editor apparently knows nothing about football...

11 points would be cool - 4 safeties and a field goal.
