Would not want to call for JW after that - but I and everyone around me was ready for a switch to number 14 in the very early third quarter - totally shocked we didnt get it. We have a very good qb in waiting - when it became obvious it was not his night I have no idea why the switch was not made. JJ was playing with disaster.

Yes I thought Smith deserved a shot.

I must admit I don't know a whole lot about his time at Hawaii. Did JJ switch his qb's often or are we in for a full season of the Gunslinger no matter what?

So, why was Gunslinger playing Middle Line Backer in the 4th qtr? Surely he was not playing both sides the entire game, right? The throw down of SFA QB near the end spoke volumes about BLM's frustration with his performance tonight.

Very disappointed in his performance tonight. I expected much improvement from last year, but simply didn't see any.
Any thoughts why the bad game from BLM tonight? Was he sick? Injured? I can't believe that JJ would put his professional reputation on the line with BLM after last year's and tonight's performance.
JJ knows something that none of us do and I will defer to his judgment. But in the meantime, this performance did not inspire confidence.

There was no reason to keep 'gunslinger' in there when he just didn't have his stuff tonight as he was missing most of the game and we had to return to the 'pony express' days to win. Why they didn't put Smith in I don't know. Of course if we question the coaches why in the world did they run out of punt formation at their 40 yard line in a tight game with 6 yards to get?

Shouldn't a coach who is being paid $2 million a season have
the ability to recognize who is his best Quarterback?

This is SMU - a QB can suck but that doesn't necessarily mean the other available QBs are any better.

He does. He is playing his best quarterback. I guess he should have asked YOUR opinion?
