Nice meeting you tonight, Thad, and getting to see your big bro for the first time in years. Also, nice that your Mom chatted my ear off for a quarter or so.
Yeah, Smoo, that was cool. I'm guessing due to your avatar you knew him (my big bro) from the band. Yes, we come from a family of incessant chatterers. My brother is the only one who escaped that one. Though, I must note it's better to get that from my mom than from my dad. My dad will either talk ad nauseum his work or the great things his kids are doing. As an outsider the kids stuff is cool, but the work stuff.... I'll start at floating point arithmetic and leave it at that.
Oh and as an insider it is nice that your father is so proud of you but it's a little embarrassing at times.
But having my mom chat your ear off, probably not bad at all. Besides my dad has very specific sports addictions, I think my mom's sort of blanket sports love and her desire to pull for the locals really hit home with my bro and I.
(For the record I also have a sister and she confines her sports love mostly to the Dallas Stars.)

I'd also like to note on the game, again, OU had a game wherein - on paper - they should have blown out their opponent and lost. We found a way to win, against inferior competition, sure... but think of those couple games against Tech where we came out jacked up and maybe should have won the game but didn't... and then later in the season Tech would look like world beaters.
I'm not saying the same thing is going to happen here. But the 'Stangs won the season opener for the first time since '00. A win is a win is a win. And what's that old saying? Something about it being much easier to coach a team after an ugly win.
