But... for the first time in my SMU game watching career I was there not as a fan, but as a man with a job to do. As much as I have seen of Bo in practice, he looked nothing like the Bo I saw in 7 of 8 practices. He did look like the Bo in rhat other one. I liked that when the game was on the line the team finally figured it out... and as the SFA players left the field I couldn't help thinking of all the times we've seen the ponies walk off the field and thinking to ourselves "moral victories suck". In any case the Ponies won, they are undefeated... unlike OU.

Oh, and I am sore from head to toe. Thanks to all of you we got on camera on the 'vard and in the stands. Sorry I couldn't make it out afterwards for a beer (on the 'vard or elsewhere). Fully beat.

I agree, double suckage for a loss tonight. End of the year it shows up the W column.

Nice meeting you tonight, Thad, and getting to see your big bro for the first time in years. Also, nice that your Mom chatted my ear off for a quarter or so.

as i noted earlier, blm looked terrible in the first half, but he figured things out in the seond half (still not enough to win in CUSA imo)...

Yeah, Smoo, that was cool. I'm guessing due to your avatar you knew him (my big bro) from the band. Yes, we come from a family of incessant chatterers. My brother is the only one who escaped that one. Though, I must note it's better to get that from my mom than from my dad. My dad will either talk ad nauseum his work or the great things his kids are doing. As an outsider the kids stuff is cool, but the work stuff.... I'll start at floating point arithmetic and leave it at that.

Oh and as an insider it is nice that your father is so proud of you but it's a little embarrassing at times.

But having my mom chat your ear off, probably not bad at all. Besides my dad has very specific sports addictions, I think my mom's sort of blanket sports love and her desire to pull for the locals really hit home with my bro and I.

(For the record I also have a sister and she confines her sports love mostly to the Dallas Stars.)

----

I'd also like to note on the game, again, OU had a game wherein - on paper - they should have blown out their opponent and lost. We found a way to win, against inferior competition, sure... but think of those couple games against Tech where we came out jacked up and maybe should have won the game but didn't... and then later in the season Tech would look like world beaters.

I'm not saying the same thing is going to happen here. But the 'Stangs won the season opener for the first time since '00. A win is a win is a win. And what's that old saying? Something about it being much easier to coach a team after an ugly win.

Has the nazi so tainted this board that we have to apologize for enjoying a win? Sad.

the fact is, we KNOW BLM has played MUCH better than this...it's not like this is a sign of what's to come...he had a bad day.

Given that, the D played much better. 5 INTs is encouraging. An RB with 150+ yards? Encouraging.

If we played this same game but BLM had a good game, I think we'd all be happy.

Recall that 14 of the SFA 24 pts came off of the INTs on a short field.

short field or not, they had 400 yards passing. if you are gonna rationalize and dismiss their scores, how do you evaluate our scores? pure offensive genius and beauty? We won on special teams, nothing else.

So...how many points did they get off that 400 yds? It was not totally a reflection on the defense as our offense kept giving the ball back to the other team with 3 and outs and turnovers. Thus their offense had many more opportunities to crank up the yards...but again, how many points did they get off of that 400 yds?

I'm a little skeptical of the 3-4 defense as it pertains to putting pressure on the other team's QB. Since it is a new scheme this year I'll wait for a few more games to go by before I get totally frustrated with it.

How many points did we get off of the 5 interceptions?
