Opposing Coaches: Prove you can complete a 30 yd pass
Posted: Sun Sep 06, 2009 10:36 pmI'm sure the UAB defensive coaches are licking their chops after witnessing the passing debacle against SFA. An inaccurate QB, with bad footwork, who routinely throws to a receiver who is completely covered.
Until BLM can prove he can consistently complete a pass to a down field receiver, they will load the box and go into a man to man coverage. Blitz the CB or OLB on every play and rattle the "nervous", "inexperienced", "rattled", QB that SMU put out there against an athletically inferior team.
UAB has comparible athletes as SMU and we will not be able to provide wide running lanes like we did against SFA if SMU can't make UAB respect the pass.
JJ knows that BLM is not the answer. My prediction is that BLM is on a short leash and if he lays an egg in Q1 of the UAB game then Braden Smith is in and JJ reputation for QB talent evaluation is severely damaged.
