BLM said Tuesday, on one of the pay football pony sites, that the offense looked good executing the passing game today. Hopefully it will be the same this week end also.

Didn't they look good in practice before the SFA game, too? I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid until I see them execute in the game. The report said they executed well in practice before the game (except for a few days where the receivers had a few drops), so I'm not buying in until they execute under pressure.
That being said, I'm looking forward to great execution by BLM, ES and AR and company this Saturday! (As well as the D.)

I feel better after talking to some people knowing that Jones was as animated (is he ever actually angry?) during halftime and after the game as he has ever been with the team and that the venom was directed at the appropriate parties.

Last year was Jones the patient teacher. This year will be more likely to be Jones the motivating teacher.

I see you went with the 1 win option for changing the Kathy Bates avatar. If they get 2 wins who will be the new girl?

Who can find fault with SMU alum Lauren Graham?

Enquiring Minds want to know...

Is the change of avatar a reflection of a win over a Div. 1 Football Championship Subdivision team?
I thought that was reserved for a Div 1 Football Bowl Subdivision victory!
Definitely an improvement,

but I think you should switch back to Kathy until we get that elusive first FBS win!

Jones is feeling the heat too. He has been adamant about how much this offense has improved since last year. After one game we look like the same offense that muddles along and never develops any consistency. The big difference this year is that we look like we've got a running back that can take some of the pressure off BLM. Again, we really can't get much out of a win over SFA, but it certainly appears that Shawnbrey McNeal is going to be a really good player for us this year. If we go to UAB and Washington State and fail to throw the ball around with success then Jones has sold us a bill of goods.

Kathy went away after beating Sam Houston or whoever last year. Only fair to give her a break after the victory over SFA.

Hopefully JJ was looking in a mirror with another coach or two in the background when he was directing any venom towards the "appropriate parties" and not just at certain players. The teams we are playing couldn't care less about who they coached in the NFL or Hawaii. The future is now and begins with evaluating performances of both players and coaches. Of course this isn't the NFL but can you believe three NFL offensive coordinators(at last count) were fired right before the season started after just a few exhibition games. I have a feeling we are going to play well this week if we can get healthy.

I am going to give BLM a pass for having the plague and look for better things this week.

The passing game DID look much better this morning. Still not razor-sharp (several one-handed swipes at passes by WRs, many of which were dropped ... although Cole Beasley did make a ridiculous leaping, twisting, one-handed grab on which he reached nearly behind his head to snag the pass), but a considerable improvement over Tuesday's practice and Saturday's game. Not as sharp as in some games last year, but better.

Beasley can make the incredible catch in practice and then drop the one between the numbers when the lights are on. He is not a big-time player.

You base that off what — three drops over the last 13 games? You're a genius! Maybe you should explain that to this coaching staff that has won so many games over the years and clearly knows nothing about recognizing talent.
