SMU's visit to Legion Field brings back bad memories for UAB

SMU comes to Legion Field on Saturday afternoon for a Conference USA football game with UAB.
Anyone remember SMU's last trip to Legion Field? I don't really need an answer to that question.

How could you forget SMU traveling 80 yards in 23 seconds with little defensive resistance? How could you forget Bobby Chase's 31-yard Hail Mary reception on the final play to steal the victory? How could you forget the moment that shaped a 2005 season that fizzled after beginning with plenty of promise?

That's a good read. But I always take issue whenever somebody refers to the last play of that game as a 'Hail Mary.' Hail Mary is when you chuck it up for grabs. Romo's pass was a purposeful ball to a specific reciever on a frozen rope on the last play, which is a big difference. And much cooler, in my opinion

What a great moment. I still get chills watching and listening to that last play. It will never get old.

Thad

I remember Bobby Chase telling us that his greatest fear was that if he dropped the ball Phil was going to kick his butt!

His thought process at the time was his fear of the coach!

HBPD - Actually I think he was talking about the time when he caught the ball fumbled it - had it stripped - way up in to the air and then caught it again. I can't remember what game that was, but it also made ESPN's top plays.

Talking to Bobby that day, the three of us doing shots at the Special Delivery tent, was truly the highlight of last season.
