Winning is NEVER ugly...

Back in 2007 when JJ was at Hawaii and Colt Brennan was running the show, the Warriors went on one amazing roller coaster of a season. Included were OT wins at La. Tech and San Jose State, a last second 48 yard field goal to beat Nevada... when the kicker had to kick it twice because the other coach called a time out at the last second... plus the final game vs. Washington in which the Warriors trailed 0-21 and 7-28 before winning, 35-28.
The point? Winning is never ugly. Wins are wins. They are better than losses. Ask Notre Dame, Tennessee or Oklahoma State if they'd trade places with SMU today.
Has SMU turned the corner? I don't know. But I do know this team has a defense that is making plays and today the offense showed they can score points. It's a team win. T-E-A-M. June Jones has the Mustangs on the right path. Get ready Mustang fans... the ride could get a lot more interesting.

Lets not say turned the corner. Lets say progress. UAB is a mid level CUSA team - and we tried many ways to give it to them in the second half.
Progress - but a long way to go. Wash St would be a VERY fun win - but it will be tough for SMU to travel that far and grab one - i feel a bunch better then I did a week ago about our odds.

It may not always be ugly but it can sometimes wreck your nerves.

I feel good about the direction things are headed, however. Lots of potential. Let's hope the injuries are healed by next week

Great words, thanks for sharing that. Quite a nerve-wracking game today but it's great to be 2-0...something I've never experienced as a Mustangs fan.

I said this all spring and all summer. The key to this season is offense. Get a lead and hold onto your seats as no lead is going to be safe; maybe the D can get a late stop. I am not sure I really thought I would have to watch SMU stop a 2-point conversion...TWICE!!!!

I'd rather watch that than watch us not stop a 2-point conversion.

This game reminded of so, so many others over the last few years - except that we made the necessary plays and won it. Very happy for the team, big step today.

Its not just about the Offense when you are competing for the NCAA's top spot in Turnovers received and you are in two close last minute 1 point games. SMU doesn't win these games without the defense stepping up. About 5-6 other key plays made by the defense in second half. I'd give it to the Defense too.

I tried to make this point last week and got called an insane idiot by couch em. Remember this night fellow ponies. This is finally the turning point. The arrow is officially pointing up.
