So what's the Biggest Game of the Year now?

Now that we won what I said was the Biggest Game of the Year-do I get to pick another?

I was really impressed that even though momentum had shifted to UAB SMU especially the Defense made about 5-6 big plays even during adversity all of which made the difference. Nice to see a LB like Taylor Reed that can make plays in the Offensive Backfield. The DBs continue to make the plays they haven't so they deserve a lot of praise. Last few years they weren't stopping the offense OR making big plays. Bo Levi Mitchell deserves a lot of credit for a great game. Hard to see the players numbers on the streaming video so it somewhat difficult to analyze their performances but they fought hard. DBs kinda of stole the show-I thought it would come down to the LBs and SS. I said we could grade them after Saturday, I didn't know that Taylor Reed would be such a big factor but the LB plus SS Rock Dennis deserve an A for keeping most everything in front of them. Emilio Sanders was great as usual. Taylor Thompson got his first sack and blocked the extra point. so we got some new guys making a difference.

The biggest game of the year now is Rice at home. I don't think anyone would argue that it will be tough to go into that game better than 3-5. We could even be on a 5 game losing streak at that point. We have to be able to rebound against a team that, at this point, we'll be favored against. It's the momentum game that leads us into 4 winnable games at the end of the season.

The biggest game of the year is always the next one on the schedule.

WSU is definitely the next big game. This is a BSC opponent and a member of a traditional big conference. And it is a road game. And if we win, it pretty much assures that we will not be in the Bottom 10 this year. Also, 3-0 and two road wins gives this group of kids confidence that they will need going into the hard part of the schedule.

UAB isn't the worse team but certainly not the best team; It is good to have a solid win against any conference opponent on the road. Now we need a road win against a BSC opponent.

And the offense has to get more consistent.

Oh yeah I forgot about Shawnbrey. Don't worry if he has 15 carries for 15 yards in the Run N Shoot-if he get 60 on the other 3 including putting it in the endzone on 3rd and about what 15 then the running game is a huge success. Its his ability to hit a home run on any play that makes him invaluable in keeping the defense honest and SMU a better team. The Running Game in this offense is about making big plays-they aren't going to consistently get 5 yards a run. But Defenses have got to account for his speed.

all things considered, we came out of the game 2-0, but beat up...that is going to be an issue this week and next Saturday

The Washington St. game is huge. Like June said on the post game show, if you are going bowling you have to win on the road.
