Coaches Top 25

I really have a problem with the Coaches Poll. This early in the season big losses especially big losses at home should cause big changes in the Top 25. You shouldn't get brownie points for what you did last year. Houston earned a place in the Top 25. They beat Oklahoma St on the road and Houston had a dominating offensive performance. May be shocking but if you are voting for the Top Teams of 2009 (not 2008) Houston should be rated higher than Oklahoma St. just like BYU is rated higher than OU and I think anybody voting otherwise is full of [deleted]. And which conference do you think those 3 votes for USC as No. 1 came from.

I know they're only 25th, but Mizz should be no where near the top 25 after scraping a win away from Bowling Green at home.

I agree that UH should be in the top 25, especially considering they beat a top 5(ranked) team.
The bottom line is though you dont get love from the coaches poll based on one win, it takes a little longer resume than that. Youre right about the fact that the poll is for 2009, but the coaches poll really look at things a little more than just one game or one season at a time.

Agree 100%. UH should be ranked somewhere around 20 after their victory over OSU. Then they have a week off and Texas Tech at home. With a win there, UH should be ranked somewhere around #12-15 in my estimation. They will have proven more than only a handful of teams in the country at that point. I grew up in Houston and have always enjoyed attending UH games and root for them to do well for themselves and CUSA. I hope they come trhough vs Tech.

Also, everyone knows UH's offense is legit. But, here is a little love for the D. Held OSU, playing at home, to 28 points by their "dynamic" offense (7 points came off of a Dez Bryant kick return). Great game for the Coogs.

They need to go on a serious roll. There could be as many as three non auto qualifiers that go undefeated this year. Could be real interesting.

Man Houston has this set up pretty well. You guys realize that the UT/Texas Tech rematch is THIS WEEKEND in Austin. Then Tech has to travel to Houston the very next week. Suck it up time for the Red Raiders

A team that beats the number 5 team in the country, on the road, and at a place like Stillwater, deserves to be in the top 25.

Just ridiculous...Oregon State is ranked??? wtf?
Beat Portland State 34-7 and UNLV 23-21. That gets you ranked by the coaches and UH not ranked?
Some teams that got votes are just stupid too - Colorado State, Northwestern, Central Michigan...someone actually listed these guys in their top 25? And Oregon got 16 votes...

Noticed TCU only gave up about 170 yards Total Defense-and this was supposed to be a rebuilding year on defense. Best news for TCU was Notre Dame loss-too many good non-BCS teams this year. Although TCU gets has its fate in its hands with the good MWC programs. Boise could run the table. Heck UH could run the table and if they beat Texas Tech at home they could jump up. Not much room for error for TCU. But there are more good non-BCS teams this year than ever and most except maybe Utah have already proved it.

D looked really good. UVA only had about 80 yards total offense with 5 minutes left in the game. Scored a couple late TDs (and got about 80 passing yards) against mostly TCU back-ups in the game. I honestly don't think they have 100 yards total offense if we don't make wholesale changes and literally run the ball straight up the gut for the last 8 minutes.

Patterson really needs to stop doing that. The score looks a lot closer than the game was. I don't think he should try to run up the score, but style points count whether you like it or not.

Both polls are a joke. There is no way Houston should be ranked lower than Oklahoma State. Things will get really interesting next week when Tulsa knocks off OU!
