Last week they had 21 missed tackles
Defensive starters included five players who redshirted last year, a true freshman, an NCAA Division II transfer and a fifth-year senior who has played in four games the past four seasons.
2 of their redshirt starters are at cornerback.
http://www.thenewstribune.com/sports/co ... 78938.htmlGotta like that as an offense!

They sound as beat up as we have been in the past few seasons. Still, this is their last real opportunity for a win. I see nothing that gives us a major advantge at this point.

Over the years we've proven that we can lose to anybody. This is their chance to get a "w" at home and their crowd will pump them up. We have to come out ready for a war.

We should be able to put up some points. How do they look offensively?

From the stats, they look average in terms of yards, both rushing and passing but scoring offense is #101.
Their pass efficiency is about the same as ours.

I must say that those O stats are vs. below average Ds.

Their senior RB (Tardy) led Washington State in rushing yards during his freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons. However, Cal transfer Montgomery might have won the starting RB spot in the Hawaii game after his 17 carriers for 118 yards. Washington State will try to run the ball on SMU--keep their depleted defense off the field and eat up the clock.

After watching WSU twice last year(Baylor and Wash) I can tell you that the reason they probably run the ball is because their QBs are pathetic. 6 Passing TDs during 2008 and as I remember several came in the final game.

This is a game we can easily lose, but if we play reasonably error free then I think we can win it. I think if we play to our potential we could win by a lot.
I will still be a terrified viewer.

One of their QB Lopino had 0 TDs in 153 passing attempts. The other Loebestael had 4 TDs in 103 passing attempts. 4 TD passes in 256 passing attempts is not strong

Let it be known that I am a sunshiner....But as an SMU fan I still have this itching feeling to not give my hopes up and that we could go 2-10 or anything like that. I SOOOO see the potential in this team, but we are SMU
Hopefully JJ earns his 2 mil and keeps us on the right track...i.e. changing the culture to winning, but I get nervous because I see so many people on this board ready to put us in 7+ wins

Those people have apparently forgotten we bairly beat a division 2 school at our own stadium - and we tried to lose a game vs an average CUSA team after having a three touchdown lead.
This is no time for cocky - you go up there knowing you have to play better then last week to win this game. They are BCS and they are at home - and that home is 3,000 miles away from us. It is likely to be cold and raining. Mental toughness - for the WHOLE game.

I agree, need those players to prove to us these aren't the old Mustangs. I am liking that they're finding ways to win instead of lose though so far...
