The week after a big, big win..

...no, not this week. I'm talking about the week after we beat TCU 21-10. You know, which is the week that followed TCU beating OU. What did we do? We went down to College Station and had our [deleted] handed to us. I can still hear the cannon blasts.

I'm glad that we've seen our team do what it takes to win. I'm crossing my fingers that no one forgets that yes, we are SMU, and...by and large...SMU will 'cure what ails ya' for a struggling program. Over the years, every time we've faced a team sitting where Washington State is, we happily rolled over and let them have career days.

We hung on for dear life to a 28-7 halftime lead that really couldve or shouldve been 42-7. We endured a 14-point swing in the 2nd half with the catch that bounced off of Beasley right to a UAB guy. We gave up a one-play, 80 yard drive on a damn SWEEP.

Please, please, PLEASE be mindful of Peruna's law, and let's hope our guys play every quarter like the 2nd quarter in Birmingham or the 4th quarter at home, not the 3rd quarter from Birmingham.

We should win this game. But we're not entitled to this 'w'. Got to be earned.

I see what you are saying but we had no business beating that TCU team. And the A&M team that we played the next week was much better than the Wash St. team we are going to play this week.

Our win over UAB wasn't that big of an upset. A big win for us but not a crazy upset.

I do hope the team plays like they did in that first half though

I think RGV's points are very well taken.

The keys mentally are to maintain focus and intensity. We have the basic tools. Now we have to execute using those tools.

This week brings a challenge our D hasn't seen this year and was a huge Achilles' heel last year, the run. WSU has a more balanced attack and the run will be more prominent than either SFA or UAB. We have to play strong up front and smart in the secondary.

The interviews/articles I have seen emphasize the need to improve on offense and get more consistent. The kids seem to recognize it as does Jones. Improve 3rd down conversion and finish the little details. All have to do with intensity and focus.

No doubt a huge week for us. A key road win against a BSC opponent will help this team as we hit the meat of the schedule.

A loss, especially since we are favored, could put us back to the old, 'here we go against' mentality. That is a killer for us this season when we have the potential to have a solid year.
