A BOMBSHELL: Tuel time is coming

PAUL WULFF DROPPED a bombshell a few moments ago. True freshman quarterbacks generally don't play in the Pac-10. But Wulff said his true frosh QB will see action this season. The Wazzu head man said he will burn the redshirt of Tuel and get him ready to play -- as early as this weekend at home against SMU.

Paul Wulff said Marshall Lobbestael will start but Jeff Tuel is going to get ready and that Tuel will indeed play this year.

We'll have more here a little later on CF.C. Ian Furness will have an audio clip of Wulff on KJR-AM in the 1 pm hour on his show.

Good and bad. Do we want to face an unknown at this point?

absolutely not

good. we already are confusing QBs withour zone blitz package and zone coverage. let the true freshman try to throw the ball on 3rd and long. Our defense will continue the interception trend...

Tuel has speed (not elite) but is an outstanding athlete; has more lateral mobility than straight line speed. Accuracy is average (but decent) in short and intermediate throws; long balls are ducks or sail to high. Tuel is ok in the pocket and sets up fast (likes to move it beyond protection, he is not a discliplined QB). Without question he is most effective on little roll outs from the gun.

I have seen him practice several times @ WSU and that's where i made these conclusions from. He is a little frail in his build and needs more time in the weight room. He is only as good as the protection he recieves and their quick passing game has sucked, bring the pressure!!

I love that they are starting a new QB and will give a true Fresh QB some playing time against us . . . I must say it does not make alot of sense to me, seeing as a pretty poor pass defense is coming to town (granted we create turnovers but we do give up some yards). That being said, the starter must have been sucking it up in practice to get demoted to 3rd string.

P.S. this sounds so much like something we would have done 4-5 years ago.
