If not the last 4 years. We win, we are 3-0, it will be a victory on the road against a BCS team. The national media will all be saying that SMU is turning the corner under year 2 of June Jones. A 5-7 win season and a bowl game will be within reach. We have heard these things before, but when we got a coach like June Jones to come to SMU, it was one of the biggest steps we have taken post DP to get serious about winning. This game will show that the dream of June Jones bringing us back is actually starting to happen. I think the players, the school, the coaches, the Dallas and national media will start to say that SMU is really on the road to recovery post DP....but this time, its for real. There is not a team in the country that is hurting more than WSU, they are playing and acting like a team that is DOA. It is a win that we can really build off of.
Granted, it's SMU, we could lose by 40 and it will be the same old same old. But I like our chances. Pony up!

So true. This game is really bigger than the TCU game as far as perception and future ramifications are concerned.

This is the first time the two programs have played. Washington State has not lost its first-ever game against an opponent at home since 1902.
(That's not a typo. 107 years!!!)

IF we win today, it could be a while before another win.

That could well be the case if we lose today also.

Would beating one of the worst teams in the PAC-10 really look better than beat a TCU team that has become a perennial top 25 program for the last 10 years?

After W.SU. other games we have a chance of winning would be

Here's the database. Hmmmm....no scores from 1902. Was the writer for the Seattle Post WRONG?
