How we got here

I think Bo is talented. He really does have good arm and throws a nice ball. I don't happen to think he has the size or athleticism needed for D-1, but whatever. The real thing is, Bo didn't earn the job. Not really. It was given to him. The real competition was inexplicably cleared out the way and the kid was given the job long before he was ready or earned it. Its like that kid who works for daddy and is made president of the company at 25. Daddy does a disservice to his kid when he hands him something legit that he obviously hasn't earned. The other people at the company are looking around going, wtf? And the kid knows it and lacks that confidence deep down, and it really impairs his leadership ability.

This is not hindsight, many of us were saying it at the time. Why not let BLM come off the bench and be the hero last year instead of the goat? If the veteran qb really couldn't run the offense, he would have certainly proven it after 5 or 6 bad games, and BLM could have taken over with the pressure off, still gotten good experience, AND had more respect from the team. Had it gone that way instead of the way it did, I don't think Bo implodes today when it counts.

As to the "system"...isn't a true system characterized by being such that you can plug different players into it and the system makes them look and perform better? I really do think thats what JJ is implying when he talks about his system being great. If you can't take all-conference caliber players with experience and plug them into your system because its so special or unique or whatever, then its not really much of a system at all is it?

I would expand to include that there was a capable VP who had run the Company a year earlier and done an ok job. You fire him and have absolutely no back-up plan in place if the kid fails.

One year later, the kid is still clearly struggling on the job and you still have no support system for him...ergo Company continues to suffer.

People have been fired for a lot less. No way am I proposing that for JJ...very happy he is here...but he gets low marks for his handling of the QB position IMO.

on the flip side of this debate...JJ has "set the bar" at BLM's abilities so anyone who comes in and shows they are clearly better suited to run this offense should win the job. If BLM is as bad as everyone has concluded, he will not be a 4 year starter

its looking like he'll be a four year starter if he finishes out the year as a starter
